HOMETOWN: ALVA, FL | DOB: DECEMBER 4, 1992
As a native of Alva, Florida, Ross Chastain grew up growing watermelons on his family’s farm when he wasn’t turning laps at local short tracks. Now 31, Chastain competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series for Trackhouse Racing in the No. 1 Chevrolet along with a partial NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series schedule for Niece Motorsports in the No. 45 Chevrolet.
Over the last four seasons, Chastain has logged 200+ starts in NASCAR’s top three national touring series, earning him the title of NASCAR’s busiest driver. Chastain’s first victory in NASCAR competition came in 2018 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, auditioning for Chip Ganassi Racing and sweeping all three stages in spectacular fashion. He has since won six more races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. In 2019 Chastain finished second in the Truck Series championship standings and won the most popular driver award.
2022 was a career defining year for Chastain. He scored 2 wins, 15 top-5s, and 21 top-10s racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. He made history at Martinsville Speedway by riding the wall, in a move now called “ The Hail Melon”, to advance to the Championship 4, where he went on to finish second in the season ending championship standings. 2023 saw Chastain in victory lane two more times in his No.1 Chevy, winning at Nashville and the season ending race in Phoenix.
In 2024, Chastain returns to the No. 1 Busch Light Chevrolet for Trackhouse Racing looking to continue his climb to the top of the NASCAR Cup Series.
Chastain’s tenure at Niece Motorsports began in 2018, and delivered team owner, Al Niece, his first series victory in 2019. In the time since, he has captured six race wins for the team including Darlington Raceway earlier this year. Ross will run five races for the team this year in addition to his Cup Series duties.
